I have a passion for bringing interactive music into retirement communities, assisted livings, and memory care homes. The power of singing along in a group reduces feelings of isolation and promoties a sense of well-being and happiness in all who participate!
One of the greatest rewards of performing in senior communities has been witnessing the remarkable power of music to bring people together. Over the years, I've watched songs awaken memories, spark conversations, encourage laughter, and create genuine moments of connection among residents.
Years ago, I heard a radio program discussing the many benefits of communal singing. Although I'd already spent years leading sing-alongs in piano bars and retirement communities, hearing the research behind what I had experienced firsthand was inspiring. It confirmed something I've seen hundreds of times: when people sing together, something special happens.
British composer Brian Eno beautifully described this idea, saying that when we sing with others, we stop being "me" for a little while and become "us."
Research continues to show that group singing can encourage deeper breathing, reduce stress, stimulate memory, improve mood, and strengthen social connections. But beyond the science, I've seen music create smiles where there were none, encourage quiet residents to join in, and fill a room with energy and laughter.
That's why every program I present is designed to be more than a performance. It's an opportunity for residents to participate, reminisce, laugh, sing, and enjoy making music together.
With large-print sing-along books featuring Broadway favorites, The Beatles, classic country, patriotic songs, hymns, Christmas music, summer favorites, and timeless standards from the Great American Songbook, every show becomes an engaging musical experience that residents look forward to.
Because when people sing together, they're not just remembering the music—they're creating joyful new memories together.

I have collections of songbooks with large print lyrics, for all occasions during the year.
