Live music for weddings & Events in Texas & Beyond
Hailing from a small town in Iowa, Kimmy started out a long way from the brightly-star-studded evenings of Switzerland and world-renowned resort hotels where her talent ultimately took her. The fateful spark that ignited a lifelong passion first came when she moved with her family at six years old, into a home that boasted an upright piano. She immediately began lessons. Her high school directed her towards a Classical path, but Miss Kim had other plans, as a different beat stirred her heart, and she felt the call to rock out and travel with a band.
The day after graduation, she left her safe, Midwest roots behind and boarded a Greyhound bus alone, for Pennsylvania. Not one day later, she had found the band she dreamed of joining! Not only that, she got herself on stage performing and being paid for it that very first weekend! Kimmy turned that first band experience into a three-year tour, playing hotels and clubs across the U.S. and Canada!. No small feat for such a tender new artist.
After this, she was off to Nashville, earning her B.A. in English, while achieving a minor in piano performance. Six years in Nashville shaped her musical tastes, prompting the move to New Orleans, for 12 years. Nashville, with it’s strong songwriting influences, and New Orleans, with it’s rich history of great piano players and Jazz, combined to create in her a mix that clicked as a live artist. She became a piano bar entertainer there, at Pat O’Briens in the French Quarter, where she played for the locals and visiting Jazz fans from around the world for eleven years. She left New Orleans just before Katrina hit, with a desire to take her career abroad and play internationally.
Over the next decade, Kim spent years traveling in Europe, the U.K., and many sun-soaked islands of the Caribbean, serenading guests at residency gigs in piano bars, clubs, first-rate resorts, and hotels. Kimmy has gained a truly professional work ethic, being booked aboard many four and five-star cruise ships and holding court in dueling piano bars around the country from Norfolk, VA, to the grand casinos of Las Vegas. I caught her playing at Rockin' J Piano Bar in Cedar Park recently, and I can attest to how much Kim loves a piano bar: she recieves a reciprocal joy in creating the positive engagement from the crowds that gather around her and join in when she sings and gets them involved.
As you can imagine, Austin, being the world's live music capital, would lure her as a destination to settle in 2009. Kimberly is back in it after the recent hiatus that found us all streaming and zooming, and in addition to ramping up her busy concert schedule and bookings, she is also now working on releasing her first album of curated classic songs and original jazz compositions. Look for more news from her in this space and on social media for updates!
